Spring Sports Updates:

A huge thank you goes out to the coaching staffs and the Lockland athletic teams for outstanding achievement this week. Our girls’ softball team ended their season this week with a great time at their banquet after a wet season of makeup games and winning the Lockland Softball Tournament. They honored Mrs. Barrett at their last home senior night game on her wonderful career at Lockland upon her soon to be retirement. Mrs. Barrett will be so missed by all of us next year (join the staff in a celebration today at Foley’s). Lockland High School had a welcomed showing of staff at the girls’ senior game. Thank you staff for attending.

Our Lockland Baseball team played yesterday in the third game of the tournament play against the Southeastern Trojans at the Summit Sports Complex. Even though they came up short on runs, this is the best showing we have had in baseball tournament play since the 70’s. We had many parents and staff members in attendance cheering the Panthers on during the game (Stanyard, Barrett, Hughett, Gaertner, Dotson, Raby, Gentry, Hubbard, Stewart and a host of parents in the stands).

Our boys’ track team won back to back MVC Champs by over 30 points this week at the district finals in New Richmond. Lockland has 6 girls and 12 boys still qualifying to run in the finals at New Richmond tomorrow at 1:00. Try to stop by and cheer our Panthers on to victory. Tariq Sanders was the MVC runner of the year for the 3rd year in a row. Tariq received the district champions in long jump and high jump yesterday.

Not too shabby for such a small district right? Congratulations again go out to Coach Ellis, Coach Coffey, and Coach Endress on a great baseball season. Both Coach Richardsons and Head Track Coach Eric Vonberg are to be congratulated on another amazing track season. Thanks to Coach Schilling and Coach Carpenter for their extra efforts to host the Lockland Softball Tournament again this year and complete another winning season. This girls’ softball tournament always gains such positive PR for the district.

We have had an increased number of staff members and parents in attendance for all of our spring sports competitions this year. The school district and the communities are proud of our continued excellence in the high school athletic arenas here in southern Ohio. Our teams are to be commended on their excellent behavior and sportsmanship as well.
