LOCKLAND ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL & HER HUSBAND RECOGNIZED FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Lockland Elementary Principal, Michele Kipp, and her husband, Roger Kipp, have been recognized by the WeTHRIVE! Citizen Spotlight for making a difference in the communities in which they work.  Mrs. Kipp who has been Principal at Lockland Elementary for five years is a member of the Lockland WeTHRIVE! School Health Advisory Council. This committee has worked to create a healthier school and community environment in Lockland. Some of their accomplishments include:
·        creating a tobacco free environment at Lockland Schools
·        creating a Safe Routes to School program
·        creating a community garden
·        creating a new policy  for healthy birthday celebrations at school
·        ensuring that all food and beverages sold at school meet nutrition guidelines set by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation
·        increasing the amount of physical activity students get every day at school
·        creating a Monthly Fitness Day
