DISTRICT-WIDE DRESS CODE

2009-2010

 

  • Students need to be in uniform at all times upon entering school grounds.
  • Students need to remain in uniform during the entire school day as long as they are on campus.
  • At the beginning of the day, students out of uniform will be sent to the office.
  • In the office, students will be required to change clothes if they can remedy the infraction without being sent home.  Parents will be notified prior to the student being sent home.
  • Teachers will check student uniforms each bell and school detentions will be given to students out of uniform every bell they violate the uniform code.
  • Students will be given school detention by any employee of the district if seen out of uniform in the hallways, cafeteria or other common areas every time they are found violating the uniform code.
  • Office referrals may result in Friday/Saturday school assignments.
  • Students who become repeat offenders will receive a parent letter mailed home to communicate to parents this failure to comply with the uniform code.
  • This parent letter will be placed in the student’s discipline file.
  • It is expected that every school employee assist the administration in monitoring the uniform code and administering school detentions and office referral for infractions of the uniform code.
  • Descriptions of the appropriate uniform are below.

 

 

PANTS:            Khaki, navy or black.  No cargo pants or shorts permitted.    

SKIRTS            Shorts (seasonal) colors as listed above.

                        No Jeans.

Belt required (no oversized belt buckles).

Pants must be worn at waist (top of hipbone).

                                   

 

SHIRTS:           Solid colors only. Button up oxford dress shirts or polo shirts with                                    

                         tab & buttons (3 or 4) long or short sleeves, no v-necks.

Shirt tucked in at all times while on campus.

Turtlenecks & long sleeved tee shirts of solid colors can be worn

under polo shirts or oxford dress shirts.

Sweaters, zip-up cardigans without hood, sweatshirts without hood,

solid colors only.

 

SHOES:            Closed toes, athletic shoes allowed (laced and tied)

No flip flops, house shoes, slippers, or athletic slip-on allowed due to

safety requirements

 

NOT PERMITTED:

  • No exposed shoulders, torsos, midriffs, chests, cleavage, backs, buttocks, no undergarments visible, no see-through materials, no hats, bandanas, head coverings, no lycra, spandex, dry weave or cut-off clothing, no hoods
  • Hair must be natural color (highlights ok) and no extreme styles
  • Piercings/Jewelry- Only visible piercings allowed in ears and a single nose stud, no spiked or studded jewelry or heavy chains.
  • No decorative dental coverings (grills).
  • Only on Game Days, athletes may wear a top recommended by the coach. Either a long sleeved jersey or an approved team logo. Slacks that meet dress code must be worn. Warm-up or team uniform bottoms are prohibited.
  • The “Game Day” dress code listed above is also in effect for any special days such as Spirit Day Friday, etc. for all students as announced by the building administrator.
