My name is Debbie Hoerst and I have been a member of the Lockland Family for 8 years. I first came as a sub for two years. The position of librarian became available and I worked in the library for two years. Later on the Art position became available and I have been teaching Art for four years and love every minute of it. I am a graduate of Miami Oxford with my certification in Elementary Education through grade 8 all subjects. My Masters is in Elementary Education in Fine Arts from Rio Grande University in Athens, Ohio.
I reside in Harrison, Ohio. I have four children and three grandchildren. My favorite things to do are swim, ride bikes, go to the beach, and plant flower gardens. I look forward to another great year at Lockland.
My Philosophy of Education
I will strive to be a life-long learner and thinker and to be enthusiastic about education. I will strive to find the best in others and continuously show my students I care so that they will show me that they care to learn. Each child will be treated fairly, equal, and as a unique individual with no regard to race, color, religion, or gender. I will work to the best of my ability at all times and present myself as an honest professional. I believe all students can learn but not all in the same way. Everyone has a mix of learning styles (Visual (spatial), Aural (auditory-musical), Verbal (linguistic), Physical (kinesthetic), Logical (mathematical), Social (interpersonal), and Solitary (intrapersonal)) and I will do my best to use all methods.
