Hello! I'm Chad Welage and am a proud 1993 graduate of Lockland High School. After graduation I attended Northern Kentucky University where I earned my Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education. While in college I was involved in the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference and served as Chapter President and Secretary, as well as State President-Elect and President. Also as a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity I served as Chapter Historian and Fraternity Education Officer. While in college I was on the Honor’s List for two semesters and Dean’s List for seven semesters. I was also a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, the National Dean’s List, Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and also received the MENC Collegiate Professional Achievement Award two years running. I began my teaching career spending two years in the Lynchburg-Clay School District and then returned to Lockland to assume the responsibilities of music director. While a teacher at Lockland I was nominated by a student and became a member of The National Society of High School Scholars. I also earned my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati in 2011. I am proud to be “back home again” at Lockland and enjoy teaching the students of the Lockland School District.
Beginning with the 2017-18 school year I stepped down as the band director and took on a new role at Lockland as a Dean of Students. I certainly miss being in the classroom with the students but I am enjoying this new position.
On a personal note, in my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends and taking my boat out and going skiing, tubing, or just cruising around.
