Mrs. Cox Mental Health Specialist, holds a Bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Kentucky and a Masters of Education in counseling from Xavier University. She has also completed post graduate work in behavior analysis, diagnosis, and assessment. Mrs. Cox has 15 years experience working with severely mentally ill children and adolescents at in-patient, residential and community mental health settings. This is her second year working at Arlington Heights Academy.

Prior to teaching, his career included 25 years in business management. Although 2007 marked his first year in the Lockland school district, he has worked in education for over six years, with five years as a teacher. Mr. Lohr has been married for 28 years and has three sons. His personal interests include home improvement projects, professional reading, sailing, canoeing, and racquetball.

Her previous experience includes one year working in a pharmaceutical research lab. She is currently in her fourth year teaching. Prior to working in the Lockland school district, she wored as a teacher at Turpin High School, Winton Woods High School, and St. Bernard-Elmwood Place High School. Mrs. Adams currently teaches third grades students at Lockland Elementary. She received her Bachelors degree from Temple Univerity in Philadelphia. Mrs. Adams has taught third grade classes for over four years at Lockland. In addition, she worked as a second and third grade teacher in Philadelphia. Prior to that, she worked as a Day Care Director, and a Pastor/Administrator, with The Salvation Army.

Mrs. Adams also volunteers her time and service as a Sunday School teacher and an instructor at a Music/Drama Camp Bible Study for College Hill Presbyterian Church. In her “free” time, she enjoys reading, music, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Ms Barrett received a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and a master’s from the University of Cincinnati. She is beginning her 33rd year teaching. She is also the National Honor Society sponsor and the Prom Committee sponsor. In addition to Lockland High School, Mrs Barrett teaches Composition and Literature at Miami University.

Mrs. Barrett is the mother of Dawn and Ian, and the mother in law of Mandy. She has six grandchildren who (she reports) are more beautiful, bright, and talented than even her children were….They are: Eric(17), Alexa (14), Connor (9), Griffin (9), Maya (4), and Bryce (2). Besides reading and music, it is these children and the children of the Lockland School District who provide her with passion, interests, and hobbies.

Mr. Smith received his Bachelors degree in Business Information Technology Education with a minor in Marketing Education from Utah State University. He also received a Master of Education in Curriculum and Teacher Leadership from Miami University. Currently, Mr. Smith is a doctoral student at Miami University studying Curriculum Development and Cultural Studies and hopes to receive his PhD in December of 2009. Mr. Smith began teaching in August of 2005. Prior to teaching in the Lockland school district, Mr. Smith worked for 13 years as a salesman and business development specialist primarily in the IT and Consumer Electronics industry.

His pedagogical philosophy is comprised of a variety of educational practices and theoretical influences including progressivism, pragmatism, and critical pedagogy, as well as critical race theory (CRT) and postcolonialism. In addition, Mr. Smith believes that students and teachers should work collaboratively in the classroom in constructing "what they know," and that everyone - students and teachers - in the teaching process can learn from, and teach, each other.

His personal interests include philosophy, social justice, anything to do with Wales, and education. Mr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family, reading, camping, hiking, playing games, and singing. As of 2008, Mr. Smith has been married for 18 years. He and his wife have three children, a cat, and a few fish.
